Tomorrow is our Parent Information Evening on Human Sexuality. All parents of Grades 4, 5, 6 and 7 students should be attending this informative evening, co-hosted by Signal Hill Association. This presentation begins at 7pm. *** Parents only, please. ***
IMPORTANT – All Grade 7 parents need to arrive at 6:45pm for a short meeting in the school music room. Please go immediately to the music room when you arrive. After the meeting is complete, all Grade 7 parents will join the others in the school gym for the Grades 4-7 Parent Information Evening.
St. Vincent De Paul Food Drive in Full Swing!
All this week is our annual St. Vincent de Paul Food Drive. Please remember to send non-perishable food items with your child(ren) throughout the week. There are gingerbread men going out to a lucky class, as well as a beautiful gingerbread house going out to one lucky winner in that selected class, so please bring in as many items as you can. The more food items brought in, the better your classroom’s chances are of winning!
The classroom draw and gingerbread house draw will be made at lunch on Friday, December 13.
Grade 4 Toy Drive – Friday December 13
Thinking about all those discarded action figures, dolls and doll houses, games, skates, skate boards, etc. piling up in your crawl spaces and garages?
Well, the Grade 4 students have a solution! As part of our commitment to living our faith, we would like to offer you and your families an opportunity to do some house cleaning that will bring a smile to a child’s face this Christmas. We are inviting all St. Joseph the Worker families to participate in this project so please spread the word about our annual Used Toy and Book Drive.
If there are any parents (about 3 to 4) who would be interested in driving whatever toys, books, bikes, etc. are collected to Richmond Secondary located at 7171 Minoru Blvd, on Friday morning, December 13, please let me know by calling or e-mailing us at school by Monday, Dec. 9. If we do have volunteers, we will be collecting the donated items in their vans Friday morning as they are brought in. They and their child will then transport the donations to the high school shortly after 9:00 a.m.
Please do not send in any donations until the morning of Friday December 13. You may drop off your donations at the front of the school as you come in for Family Friday or when you drop off your child.
Human Sexuality Parent Information Evening – December 11 @ 7pm
This is a reminder that there will be a Human Sexuality Parent Information Evening for parents and guardians of all Grades 4-7 students on Wednesday, December 11.
This informative evening offers timely and pertinent information to assist us in supporting our children as they face the myriad of social, emotional, physical and spiritual challenges in today’s media world.
We will begin at 7pm with a general session in the school gym and then then break into grade-specific groups for the second session. Signal Hill will be hosting the workshop sessions. Please make arrangements to attend this adult-only event.
NOTE – Grade 7 parents will need to arrive at 6:45pm to attend a brief “Love and Life” meeting before the general session. This meeting will allow Grade 7 parents to not have to attend a separate “Love and Life” meeting that is held annually.

Candy Cane Blitz Report from your PEC
If you had the opportunity to drop off or pick up your children from school on Friday, you would have seen members of the PEC handing out candy canes to drivers in the parking lot. This was to encourage and thank all our drivers for following the parking lot rules and keeping our children safe. Thank you again for your continued cooperation in keeping our parking lot a safe place for everyone.
