Dear Grade Six Parents,

As you know, on Tuesday, June 4th at morning recess, the Grade Six Class will hold a bake sale to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The Grade Six Class has been learning about Leukemia and Lymphoma and working to raise blood cancer awareness in our school.  A speaker from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society visited our class to give information about the disease and since then the students have been brainstorming and planning ways to help.  Last week the students organized a toonie dress down day to raise money.  They also performed a skit about what happens in a Leukemia patient’s blood for two primary classes.  Next week’s Bake Sale and Teddy Bear Raffle have the potential to earn a great deal of money for patient support and research.

What to do:

  • Involve your child in making 2 dozen home-baked goods equivalent in size/value to a large cupcake (we will sell everything for $1 each)
  • Send the items to school on a tray labeled with your child’s name

If you wish:

  • buy a $1.00 raffle ticket to win one of the teddy bears at the office
  •  make a donation to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through the following website and it will count towards our fundraising goal  http://tinyurl.com/St-Joseph-the-Worker

There are several people in the St. Joseph the Worker community whose loved ones have been affected by blood cancers, including some people in our class. Let’s come together to show support and help find a cure!  Thank you in advance for supporting this important cause and teaching your child he or she can make a difference.

Sincerely,

Ms. A. Phillips
