Dear Parents,
Having completed the novels, _Al Capone Does my Shirts_ and _Al Capone Shines My Shoes_, it is time for students to show off their learning in the form of a self selected project. The three choices are as follows:
1) Rewrite a chapter from the perspective of a different character
2) Make a map of Alcatraz and include a description ten different locations on the island. Students must also include important events from the novel which occurred at each location.
3) Make a comic strip based on the novel complete with detailed voice and thought bubbles.
A more thorough project description and a rubric indicating how your child’s project will be marked should already be in your child’s homework folder.
The project is due Monday, January 27th, but to keep students on track, I have handed out timelines which divide the project into manageable chunks. One of these timelines should be in your child’s folder as well, but for your convenience, I have also included them in this post. (see links below)
The project is to be completed both at home and at school. Thank you for helping your child stay on schedule. I will be checking their progress in class according to the dates specified in the timeline.
