In our “Fun Friends” resilience building program we have been learning some relaxation techniques. Today we did a guided meditation, during which your child was to imagine a relaxing place and think about what they would see, smell, taste, hear and feel there. Ask them where their relaxing place is, then have them teach you a breathing technique. We have learned many ways to calm our breathing such as: milkshake breathing, square breathing, kleenex breathing and hot soup breathing, as well as a number of yoga breathing techniques which are named after a variety of animals. It doesn’t matter which one you choose, as long as you breathe slowly and deeply.
I hope this leads to more relaxing moments at your house!
