Dear Parents,

The Grade 7 students are eagerly anticipating the Outdoor Education program, which is scheduled from Tuesday, April 12th until Friday, April 15th, 2016 at Camp Elphinstone, near Gibsons, on the Sunshine Coast.

At outdoor education, the students will be participating in a variety of activities such as archery, rock climbing, the low ropes course, the high ropes course, kayaking, canoeing, orienteering, and wide games. Depending on the weather, students will be able to choose from a selection of activities on the camp’s fields and courts during their free time. Hot meals will be provided for the duration of the students’ stay, and the boys and girls will be sleeping in separate heated cabins.

The cost of the program will be finalized after Spring Break, and will be approximately $260. This fee will include round-trip bus and ferry transportation, three nights of accommodation at Camp Elphinstone, all meals, snacks and activities, and additional supervision by counselors at the camp.

The permission slip for the program along with additional information will be sent home after Spring Break, however, Camp Elphinstone has asked us to finalize our numbers before that time. It is expected that all Grade Seven students will participate in the program. Outdoor Education is a wonderful experience in terms of each child’s social, spiritual, and physical development, and also provides a unique bonding opportunity for the students. If there is a reason that your son or daughter will be unable to attend, please contact me in writing before March 4th, when I will be confirming numbers with Camp Elphinstone. Once our numbers have been confirmed, except in the case of serious illness, Camp Elphinstone will require payment for your son or daughter, whether they attend or not.

If you have any questions about Outdoor Education, please feel free to contact me. Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Jamie Withers
