The Grades Five and Seven classes will be going to Granville Island next Wednesday, October 19th, to hear an author speak at the Writers’ Festival. Students are asked to arrive at school at 8:20, as the bus is scheduled to leave at 8:30 sharp. The students are asked to bring their lunches with them, as we will be having a picnic lunch after the talk.  We will leave Granville Island at 12:30. We will need a few parent drivers per grade, as the bus is not quite big enough for all students.

The author the students were originally scheduled to see was Gordon Korman, who unfortunately cancelled his talk earlier this week because of a family emergency. The Vancouver Writers’ Festival has just managed to secure another author – Kevin Sands – who comes highly recommended by Vancouver Kidsbooks. The librarians in the Catholic Schools have also just selected Kevin Sands’ novel for the Readers are Leaders competition this year, and so I am sure that the students will be interested in hearing this author speak about his craft.

The cost of the field trip is $12 per student, and the permission form will be sent home tomorrow. Please return the payment and permission form on Monday. Thank you for your support.
