Today is Earth Day. Here are some suggestions for celebrating this beautiful sunny Sunday.

-Be car-free.

-Go for a bike ride— not only is it good for the body, it’s good for the environment too!

-Go for a walk in your neighbourhood or a park. (ie. Richmond Nature Park, Railway Path, the dyke) and appreciate the beauty of nature that surrounds our community.

-Have the children help with recycling tins, paper, plastics, glass etc.

-Grow something. Plant a seed, sprout, flower, or tree in a container, garden, or backyard.

Tomorrow at school, we will be celebrating with Earth Day activities. As this year’s theme for Earth Day is to reduce plastic litter and pollution, I have challenged the students to bring a “plastic free” lunch. Please help the students in preparing their own lunches by using items such as wax paper, small cloths, glass jars, tins, baskets, etc to replace as much of the plastic as possible. Thank you for your support and HAPPY EARTH DAY!
