Dear Grade 3 Parents,

I hope the children had a great long weekend.

Last week, all the children  had one opportunity to practice their poem or a bible reading in front of the class.  The children will be presenting their poems in class on Wednesday, Feb 19th and the Bible reading presentations will be done over two days, Tuesday,  February 18th and Wednesday, February 19th.

Please practice: strong speaking voice, interesting phrasing and pace, confident posture, clear enunciation and eye contact. Poetry readers must introduce their poem by stating the title and the author of their poem. Please review the criteria sheet that went home earlier. Your child will be notified by Thursday, February 20th if they are proceeding to the next step in the school Speech Arts celebration. More information will follow. The Primary In School Speech Arts Celebration will take place on Monday, February 24th.

The Grade 3 students will be going skating at Minoru Ice Rink on Tuesday, February 25th. Skating will begin at 1:00. A notice will be sent home soon for volunteer parent drivers. On this day, the Grade 3 students can wear their skating clothes to school. They are also encouraged to bring their own hockey or snowboarding  helmet. ( No bicycle helmets please). Minoru Ice Rink does have some helmets that your child can borrow.

Please keep checking for lice in your child’s hair over the next few months.

Also, on Thursday, February 27th, there is a field trip scheduled. The children will be visiting the Delta Museum in Ladner for an interesting hands on program about the past. A permission notice will be coming home soon which will also be asking for parent drivers.

Thank you very much for your support over these past several weeks. The Cinderella stories are looking great. A new project will be assigned this week. Please check your child’s back pack for the information sheet. Have a great week.

Sincerely,
Vilma Macdonald
