I returned the Grade Seven students’ marked Math tests today. Overall, I was pleased with the results. Please sign and return these tests by Tuesday.

I also reviewed the Grade Seven test rewrite policy today. Students who have not “fully met expectations” on a unit test (those who earned a score under 75%) may ask to rewrite the test. The rewrite test will be a similar version of the original. Rewriting the unit test will allow students to bring their score up to a maximum of 75% (fully meets expectations).

The students will be writing their first Science test of the year next Thursday, October 9th. Yesterday, the students received an outline of the material they will need to review. The vocabulary words and concepts for this unit are detailed in Chapter One in the Science textbooks. As we discussed in class, students are encouraged to “actively” study by taking notes, drawing diagrams, testing themselves, or explaining what they have learned to others. Students are also encouraged to ask for help if there are any concepts that they would like me to clarify with them.

Mrs. Carandang has asked me to remind you that the deadline for registering for the Archdiocesan Spirit Day is this coming Tuesday, October 7th. Please submit the registration forms and payment to the Religious Education office by that date. The Spirit Day is coming up on Saturday, November 8th, and is a wonderful event. Students are strongly encouraged to attend.

I also wanted to remind you of the Grade Seven Bible presentation that will be taking place in the church this coming Monday at 2:15pm. Parents are encouraged to attend if possible.

Mr. Girard has asked me to remind the girls that they will be participating in a volleyball tournament at St. Paul’s this coming Monday. The boys’ tournament is on Tuesday, and will be here at St. Joe’s. Both tournaments will end by 5:30pm.

Given the unsettled weather until recently, and with various volleyball tournaments, healthy lunch, cross country, Living Rosary, and school mass, it is has been very challenging to reschedule our class hike so far. I am still hoping that the weather will cooperate, and that we will be able to go during the week of October 14-17. If you are available to help out by driving or hiking with the class during any (or all) of those days, please email me at withers.stjo@gmail.com.

Thank you for your support, and have a great weekend!
