Dear Grade Six Parents,
It has been a very full month in Grade Six. Here are a few quick updates regarding assignments and activities this month.
H.R. MacMillan Space Centre Field Trip
- Thank you to all the parents who have offered to come on our field trip next week on Thursday, November 20th.
- We still need more drivers!
- If you have not yet signed up, but are able help, the class and I would be very grateful! Please feel free to email me at dearms.phillips@gmail.com anytime this weekend.
- Supervising parents are asked to meet in the Grade Six room at 9:10 a.m. to receive a supervisor’s folder including groups, directions and schedules.
- We will be back at the school in time for regular dismissal at 3:00 p.m.
Grade Six Boys’ Volleyball Team Victory
- The boys’ performance in yesterday’s tournament has qualified them to participate in he competition at Harry Jerome next Tuesday, November 18th. Congratulations, boys!
Garbage King Project Extension
- Due to the boys’ aforementioned tournament next Tuesday, I have given the entire class a one-day extension on their Garbage King Projects. The new due date is Wednesday, November 19th.
- Students who wish to turn their projects in before this date, are welcome and encouraged to do so.
Legion Poster Contest – Cash Prizes
- In Art class today, students made posters on the theme of “Remembrance”
- They had the option of entering their posters in the Legion’s “Youth Education” contest
- First Prize is $250 Second Prize is $200
- A few students showed initiative by writing essays or poems based on what they learned while preparing for the assembly last week.
- Let’s hope we have a Grade Six winner!
Remembrance Day Assembly Feedback
- Staff, parents and grandparents alike have passed on how impressed they were of the Grade Six’s work on last week’s Remembrance Day Assembly.
- Mr. Fraser mentioned how much he enjoyed the Grade Sixes singing voices in their rendition of “In Flanders Fields.”
- I was proud of the class’s maturity, insight and hard work.
- A special thank you to all the parents who were able to come to the ceremony.
