Dear Grade Six Parents,
Happy Thursday! This is a quick “heads up” about a bake sale fundraiser the Grade Six class will host next month. All proceeds will go to the Red Cross’s efforts to treat and prevent Ebola.
Christmas Concert Bake Sale:
On Wednesday, December 17th, before the evening Christmas Concert, Grade Six students will be selling treats and refreshments to audience members. Families are asked to donate at least two dozen treats to feed the masses. These could include cookies, cupcakes, squares or muffins and could be made to suit either adult or children’s tastes. (loaves and fishes not necessary) We will ask that only adults be allowed to purchase the treats as students are expected to concentrate on performing.
Why Ebola?
As you know, the Grade Six students have studied the Ebola epidemic though our current events program and have been learning about Africa as part of our novel study on The Garbage King. Our sponsored child, Tsege is located in Ethiopia and has been unaffected by the epidemic up to this point. Our class received a letter from her last week telling us that she is healthy and greatly appreciates our support.
Why Fundraise?
In Grade Six, students are called to become Global Citizens. Through these fundraisers, our goal is to make the children aware of the needs of others and empower them to take meaningful action. Hopefully this will foster a spirit of philanthropy that will stay with them throughout their lives.
Thank you in advance for your generous support!
Ms. Andrea Phillips
